In 2012, solid biofuel was produced in GATAB/Antalya region in Turkey. Our 1 ton/hour system was installed in Gatab-Kemer/Antalya and trials were made with the waste listed below and the end product was then analysed.

The list of processed waste:

• Kitchen waste which was sorted from MSW (humidity rate around 72%)
• Garden waste (tree waste included) (humidity rate around 40%)
• Domestic sewage sludge (humidity rate around 87%)
• Black Liquor from waste (humidity rate 100%)

Waste was processed and the resultant end product was produced:

• From kitchen waste, after secondary waste sorting was made to extract fruit and vegetable and red and white meat was separated, dog/cat food was produced from red and white meat
• When kitchen waste, garden waste and sewage sludge were mixed with black liquor, solid biofuel was produced with the following parameters
  • CV:           Around 3.500 Kcal/kg
  • Humidity: <%10
  • Ash:         <%5
  • Sulphur:   %0.3

The biofuel, when burnt, does not release any smell or smoke to the environment and could grill for long periods of time. Besides, it is much cheaper and at a higher quality than Soma Lignite Coal.

Moreover, in İzmir/Turkey, at another trial, solid biofuel was produced from domestic sewage sludge.
